| Teacher Biography Teaching Philosophy "My name is Gary Baum and I have been involved in the fire service for 6 years. I currently serve on two departments within the Kaneland Community. The fire service has become a passion for me and receive great rewards by helping others in their time of need. I was able to truly benefit from my fire service experience this past Spetember when I deployed with 600 other Illinois firefighters to New Orleans as part of the Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort. During my two weeks in New Orleans I worked with thousands of other military and emergency services personnel to render aid to such a stricken area. I hope that my passion, training and experienes will carry over into my students and through their experiences in this class, will begin to see what great advantages a career in the fire service can provide."
