Automotive Technology II

Grades: 12

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Automotive Technology I

Credits: 2 1/2 Credits

Articulation to Waubonsee Community College? YES

Description: Automotive Technology II is an extension of Automotive Technology I. Auto II students receive advanced instruction in the following areas:

  • computer engine testing and diagnostics
  • cylinder head service
  • lower engine rebuilding procedure
  • air conditioning service and repair
  • engine blueprinting

Extra shop time is porvided to conduct major repairs involving experience with vehicles that will build on the student expertise to prepare themselves for employment in the auto industry. Students may qualify for A.S.E. license upon completion of Auto Tech I and II.

Experience

Mr. Hansen has been teaching in the Kaneland district since 1999. He has taught computer technology, electronics, small engines, welding, and automotive for Fox Valley Career Center as well as CAD and drafting for Kaneland High School. Prior to this, Mr. Hansen taught woods and intro to technology at Nequa Valley High School.

Responsibilities

Mr. Hansen helps students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the automotive field. This not only includes technical instruction but work place skills such as teamwork and problem solving.
