November Students of the Month

Fox Valley Career Center is proud to highlight the following "students of the month" for November 2011.

Austin Henkelman, Auto Technology II, Kaneland High School

Austin Henkelman, Auto Technology II, Kaneland High School

“Austin is a second year student that really should have been given this award last year. He possesses the team work skills needed to work with any member of the class and makes sure his project stays on task and organized. He is always willing to help on any project and generally picks up the slack left by any of his classmates. Austin is the type of person who does all the little extras that most students don’t. This attitude helps to make the shop run smoother for everyone on a daily basis.”

Casey Haffner, PC Maintenance, Repair & Networking, Kaneland High School

“I am pleased to award Student of the Month to Casey Haffner. In addition to being a real pleasure to have in class, he demonstrates professionalism, knowledge, and a commitment to excellence. He sets the example for maturity and consistency among his classmates. Congratulations Casey!”

Tom Oliveira, Fire Science II, Geneva High School

Tom Oliveira, Fire Science II, Geneva High School

“Tom has continued to show great growth in his leadership skills. He organized a group of Fire Science II students to work a race in Wheaton and receive a $100 donation for the Fire Science program. Tom also authored this most recent “Voice” article for the Fire Science program. Tom’s abilities and desire will make him an excellent firefighter in the future.”

Darnel Jenkins-Johnson, Auto Technology II, Batavia High School

Darnel Jenkins-Johnson, Auto Technology II, Batavia High School

“Darnel is a bright student with a natural ability to look at a problem and see solutions that other students do not. He can be trusted to work on any customer car, and I don’t have to worry about damage or careless mistakes. In general, when working in a group, Darnel will take a leadership role and make sure the job stays on task and organized. He is also the type of person that can get along and work with any other student in the class. Darnel is truly a team player that would be an asset to any employer.”

Ryan Goodenough, EMT, Kaneland High School

“Brian went above and beyond during the past month. He has challenged himself to complete all required welds during a difficult second quarter, now allowing time to complete extra projects. Brian has accumulated a record number of second quarter points in his Welding I class. Brian Dodson’s dedication to learn new welding skills has earned him this Student of the Month award.”

Dylan Theisen, Auto Technology II, Batavia High School

“Dylan has really started to show leadership in the shop this year. His ability to focus on a project and follow it through to completion is the reason I have nominated him for this award. He also is the first to offer help on difficult projects taken on by his classmates. Dylan is willing to do those little extras that most students just don’t take the time for.”

Adam Poczekaj, Welding I, Kaneland High School

“In a short period of time, Matt has demonstrated a tremendous amount of ability. In addition, he has demonstrated strong leadership skills—mostly leading by example. Matt and his company just recently went to the Aurora Regional Fire Museum and volunteered four hours helping the museum prepare for the Christmas holiday. We feel Matt will continue to grow as a future fire fighter.”
