Student of the Month

Fox Valley Career Center is proud to recognize the following students:

Mackenzie Carter, Game Programming Technologies, Geneva High School

Mackenzie Carter, Game Programming Technologies, Geneva High School

“Mac Carter has been awarded Student of the Month for his consistent effort, his ability, his willingness to help others, and his inquisitive nature. Mac challenges me each and every day by asking creative questions that involve ways to utilize technology that I have not considered in the past. It is so fun to have a student who takes the lessons from class, internalizes the knowledge, and then comes back with very creative questions that begin with phrases such as ‘what if’ or ‘could this work’ or ‘what would happen if.’ Congratulations Mac! Keep reaching, keep asking, keep testing, keep trying!”

Nicholas Messina, Web Development, Kaneland High School

Nicholas Messina, Web Development, Kaneland High School

“It is my pleasure to announce that Nicholas Messina has been awarded Student of the Month for March. Nick was chosen for many reasons, including his ability to catch on to computer skills very easily. More importantly, Nick connects the dots between performing the skill and applying the skill for a particular purpose. He doesn’t just “go through the motions.” Nick asks meaningful questions and really tries to understand how the application is used and what types of career opportunities may exist in relation to the education he is getting. Nick always puts forth his best effort and shows a real passion and talent for computer science. Congratulations Nick!”

Mark Shultz, Fire Science II, Kaneland High School

“Mark has to be one of the hardest working, most respectful and sincere students I have known. Mark was actually nominated for this award by the students in his company, and I completely agree. It has been an honor to have Mark in our program the past two years, and I know he will be successful in any chosen career field. Because of Mark’s character, we would welcome him back to assist any time.”

George Wilson, Fire Science I, Kaneland High School

George Wilson, Fire Science I, Kaneland High School

“Since the start of the school year, we have seen George grow in maturity. Starting off with less than desirable homework grades, George has now moved toward the top of the list. George’s ability to work as a team has certainly improved since his start in fire science. George is now taking on a leadership role, and we hope that this award will help to build his confidence to move forward. As with all of our students, we hope our fire science culture carries over into our students’ daily lives.”

Liz Worden, Early Childhood II, Batavia High School

Liz Worden, Early Childhood II, Batavia High School

“Liz is responsible and dedicated to the children in her care. She has demonstrated flexibility while working with the infants and toddlers as well as her peers. Liz works hard to do her best. Liz’s confidence and skills have improved immensely. She is a good role model and a true joy to have in class.”
